It involves steady ascents and descents, with some sections of steep terrain. Technical climbing skills are not required. The Marangu Route typically takes around 5–6 days to complete, depending on the itinerary and acclimatization schedule. Unlike other routes, the Marangu Route offers hut accommodations instead of camping. There are designated huts at various points along the trail, providing shelter and basic amenities such as bunk beds and communal dining areas.
